Prudns (Prudence Illingworth) is an Australian singer-songwriter, music producer, instrumentalist, and visual artist known for her genre-blending approach to music. Fusing neoclassical, electronic, and alternative pop, her work is defined by intricate vocal harmonies, experimental sound design, and deeply introspective lyricism.
Prudns graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology) in 2018 and a Graduate Certificate of Visual Arts in 2020. A self-taught producer, she began crafting music during 2021 covid lockdowns, leading to an obsession with sound and storytelling. Her discography includes her debut EP Tinka (2021), singles Riddle and WYSML (2022), an album NEXT (2023), and her piano-based EP I play piano and sing (2024). Described as "hyper-ethereal pop," her music has received airplay on Triple J, Triple R, 4ZZZ, and international radio stations, as well as playlisting on Apple Music.
Recognised for her artistic innovation, Prudns has participated in industry programs such as the 321 Songwriting Sessions (APRA AMCOS, Always Live), the Airlock Studios Immersive Program, and the 4000 Studios Music Residency. She was a finalist in the Upstart Award in 2023 and a semi-finalist in the Listen Up Songwriting Prize in 2024.
Beyond her recorded music, Prudns has performed at curated events like Sofar Sounds Brisbane, and she regularly collaborates as a songwriter, producer, and topliner across diverse genres. With a background in visual art and anthropology, Prudns integrates conceptual and visual elements into her projects, continuously pushing creative boundaries to craft music that is both emotionally resonant, sonically innovative and hard to define.
